    • What would you have done if you were a passenger in the car that night?
    • What are several ways this horrible accident could have been avoided?

    • Did the punishment the driver received fit the crime?  Was it too little?  Too much?

If I were a passenger in the car that night, I would have told the driver to slow down and be careful. The crash could have been prevented in many ways. Some obvious ones are slowing down, being careful and telling the driver to slow down. Some other ways this crash could have been prevented are not going out at midnight to get food and TP a house with 9 people in the car. If I was the driver of the crash, I would feel horrible. She not only lost 3 of her friends, but she was the reason for loosing them. I think the punishment fit the crime. She was the cause of loosing 3 of her friends. She has to live with the guilt and remorse of her actions and speeding.

If I were in that car the night of the crash I would have made sure that Carly was being safe on the roads and made sure nobody did anything illegal. In order to avoid this accident, somebody could have spoke up about how driving upwards of 100 over a hill is a bad idea and could lead to an accident. If I were the driver of this vehicle I would have owned up to my actions and been willing to take any punishment given to me. I also would have spread the message to not drive erratically and never speed again. I think the punishment was a good fit because every teenager has done something dumb and her act of immaturity costed three young lives. Her year sentence will teach her to not do it again.
